Policies for Students of Galen Noland 2026-2027
2026-2027 Monthly rates for those coming to 4 Jardin Place in St. Albert for lessons:
Regular 30 minute rate for piano $115 per month – Double this rate for 60 minutes
Regular 30 minute rate for harp $145 per month – Double this rate for 60 minutes
Regular 45 minute rate for piano $172.50 per month
Regular 45 minute rate for harp $217.50 per month
Drop-in lesson – 30 minute piano rate is $40, 30 minute harp is $50.
*For Dec and May cheques please add a flat $20 recital fee which will cover the entire family
(regardless of number of students in that family as well as any guests they wish to invite).
Students are required to include this fee, regardless of intentions to participate in the recitals.
There are 36 lessons distributed over the school year from beginning of September to the end of June. The monthly rate is not affected by the number of lessons within each month.
For clients who wish that I come to their homes to teach, an added flat $40 monthly fee is charged for travelling to those who live within the St. Albert city limits. A $50 monthly fee is charged to those living outside the St. Albert city limits. This fee is based on one trip per week to the home and will not vary according to the length of the lesson or the number of students, as long as the lessons are arranged consecutively on the same day.
Payment Policy
Lesson payments must be made in advance by post-dated cheques, cash or bank transfers.
All post-dated cheques must be issued for the first day of each of the 10 months from Sept-June. All post-dated cheques are due upon registration. If a student discontinues lessons, post-dated cheques for the remainder of the year will be returned. Adequate notice must be given BEFORE the cheque for the next month is deposited. If a cheque has already been deposited for the month, that money will NOT be returned.
Payments for lessons given by cash or bank transfers are due on the last lesson of each month to pay for the next month. The first month of lessons must be paid for in full upon registration. $20 recital fee will be added to the bill for the months of Dec and May as they are for those who pay with cheques.
Missed Lesson Policy
There are NO refunds for missed lessons. The monthly payment does not change due to missed lessons or the number of lessons per month.
If I miss a lesson due to illness or a gig, make up lessons are guaranteed, even if they have to be arranged for some time during the summer months.
Make up lessons are NOT guaranteed however, if a student misses a lesson. They are subject to availability in my regular teaching schedule, although I will work very hard to provide them. They must take place within 30 days of the missed lesson. If they cannot be done in the existing schedule within 30 days, they will not be made up. At least 24 hours notice prior to a missed lesson must be given in order to be eligible for a make up lesson. All make up lessons must be specifically requested. This again does notmean they are guaranteed.
If a student is ill (due to a cold or some other contagious illness), an online lesson will be provided. Please do NOT come to my house if you are sick with a cold or flu.
Please be courteous and give as much advance notice as possible for lessons missed due to schedule conflicts or holidays. This makes it easier to schedule any make up lessons for others.
Preregistration
Preregistration for the new season (starting Sept. 1, 2026) will begin on June 1, 2026 and end on June 28th, 2025. Any spots left open afterwards are then available to new registrants or current students looking for more convenient times. Only enrolled students may preregister for their current spots to be carried through to the next season. Preregistration requires all 10 postdated cheques, or a cash/bank transfer payment for September 2026 in full.
Summer Lessons
Summer lessons will be available if time allows in my schedule on Wednesdays only. The fees are the same as my drop in lesson fees as described above. There are no monthly packages during the summer so lessons must be paid for individually and at the beginning of each lesson.
